Uniforms of the Confederate States Army

This uniform was worn by the Louisiana "Tigers" during the early part of the war. It is patterned after the colorful French Zouave uniforms. His equipment includes musket, bayonet, and cartridge box; canteen, haversack, and bayonet scabbard (on his left hip); and he probably would have carried a Bowie knife. A blanket roll and knapsack are slung on his back. His trousers are made from bed ticking.
